19 Months old and the Chicken Pox

Yes, you read correctly, poor little Cooper has the chicken pox. He did receive the vaccine for it when he turned 1. I guess that doesn't necessarily prevent you from getting it, but if you do it will be a much milder case. Cooper's are contained to his left thigh, and he has been great about not itching. We found out what his diagnosis was on Monday afternoon so have been pretty contained to the house all week. A few car trips to get gas, deposit checks at the bank etc. Today was definitely the most exciting; Cooper met his cousins for some sledding. Cooper still calls the sled his "boat," but he loved it. Did great with all the gear required to stay warm in MN winter and loved going down the hill. We have been trying to stay creative at home with things to keep him entertained and have been doing quite a few art projects. Cooper loves to color! He received a new puzzle and race car from his buddies Amanda and Gavin yesterday which has been wonderfully entertaining for him. Made a "tent" out of blankets and his little table and chairs in the toy room; very fun. He has also become quite fond of the band Guster and has come up with several new moves for whenever he hears their songs. His favorite is, "Can You Feel," which he requests often. Whenever he hears it he instantly starts dancing around and kicking his legs out in front of him. He really has handled this whole confined to the house thing like a champ. We went back to the Dr on Friday just to have his spots checked and see if he was still contagious. We had to go through their garage and be examined in the x-ray room so he wasn't in contact with anyone else! She said hopefully they heal up in a few more days, we shall see!

Completely random but I think it is so funny I just wanted to share....
If Cooper ever wakes up earlier than normal I go up to get him while Jennon heats up a glass of milk and we bring him in to bed with us. Pretty much a 50/50 chance he will end up falling back asleep. A few weeks ago Cooper woke up around 5:30am. We did the normal drill and laid as still as we could once he finished his milk in hopes that he would think we were asleep and fall back himself. A few minutes go by and all of a sudden he crawls over Jennon, grabs his nose and says, "Honk, honk!" We both burst out laughing; clearly the little guy had no intentions of going back to sleep ; )

I think Cooper is trying to be a bit more independent; he now tries to walk down the stairs instead of sliding down on his stomach. He also used to sit directly on your lap when stories were read to him, he know prefers to sit right next to you.
So, chicken pox and lots of laughs is I guess how to sum up the last few weeks. He is a great little guy with a wonderful personality, we are so blessed!
